PastCAREER & CALLING

Making career decisions with faith, wisdom, and purpose.

What is the intersection of career and divine calling

Saturday, 31 October 20267:00 – 8:30 PM WATOnline — Google Meet, Free

Led by Damilola Balogun and Oreoluwa Roseline Soyebo

More coming.

We are planning the next gathering. It will appear on the events home page as soon as we have a date.

What happened

Looking back

The core discussion tackled the tension between secular work (Career) and divine purpose (Calling). Damilola and Oreoluwa framed "calling" not just as church work, but as how you apply your faith and integrity wherever you are employed. They explored the reality of working jobs you didn't plan for and how to balance financial responsibilities with finding fulfillment. The focus was on practical decision-making: knowing when to stay at a job, when to prepare for a transition, and when to pivot entirely.

About this conversation

Why we held this one

What does it mean to build a career and stay faithful to God’s calling? How do you decide when your interests, opportunities, money, and sense of purpose don’t line up?

As the year winds down, many of us are taking stock of our work. Some are waiting for a first job. Some are in a job they didn’t plan for. Some are weighing a big move.

We’ve spent the last two months on purpose and on discipline. This month, we take both into the place most of us spend our days: work.

Come with your questions. Leave with clearer thinking and one practical next step.

Questions

Questions people ask

Is it free?

Yes. Every gathering is free.

Will there be a replay?

Yes. We record the conversation and send the replay to everyone who registered.

How do I join?

Register, and the Google Meet link comes to you by email with a way to add the gathering to your calendar.

Can I invite someone?

Please do. Send them this page and they can register the same way you did.

Do I need to be a Christian?

No. Everyone is welcome here. The conversation is Christ-centred and we are open about that, but you do not have to share our faith to join it.

Why two speakers?

Two perspectives, one shared conversation. This is not two talks back-to-back. Our guests will share their stories, work through real situations together, and answer your questions.

Do I need to be working or job-hunting to come?

No. This is for students, jobseekers, employees, business owners, and anyone rethinking their path. Wherever you are, there’s a next step to take from there.

Can I send a question before the session?

Yes. Add it when you register. We’ll use the questions we receive to shape the conversation.

Will the speakers tell me what career decision to make?

No. One evening isn’t enough context for that. But you’ll leave knowing what to weigh, and who to seek counsel from.

What if my question involves a personal situation?

Ask it. We’ll leave out identifying details when we read questions aloud.

Should I bring anything?

A pen and paper, or a notes app. We’ll close by writing down one action to take within seven days.
